Have you ever been told that your symptoms are "just stress," "just aging," or "just a phase of life"—yet deep down, you know something more is going on? You're not alone. Many people struggle with a myriad of physical symptoms along with brain fog, anxiety, sleep issues, undiagnosed learning disabilities and other neurological concerns, only to feel dismissed by conventional medicine. What is qEEG?
qEEG (quantitative electroencephalography) is a test that measures brainwave activity to help diagnose and understand conditions like ADHD, anxiety, sleep disorders and so much more. Small sensors are placed on the scalp to record brain electrical activity, which is then analyzed to spot any unusual patterns. However, qEEG certification is rare, and only about 1,000 professionals in the U.S. including Lorrianne Morrow, LPC-S, BCN, QEEG-DL, NASM-CPT founder of The Houston Brain Center, are qualified to accurately interpret these results. To perform and analyze a qEEG, licensed psychologists, neurologists, and specially trained therapists must complete additional certifications in neurofeedback or neuroimaging, ensuring they can provide reliable insights for treatment.
Neurofeedback an Effective Noninvasive Treatment
At the Houston Brain Center, the results of a qEEG are used to identify patterns in brainwave activity that may be linked to neurological or physical issues, such as anxiety, chronic pain, or difficulty with learning and physical abilities. Based on these results, the center may recommend neurofeedback as a treatment option. Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback that trains the brain to regulate its own activity. By using real-time brainwave data, neurofeedback encourages the brain to move towards healthier patterns. During a session, patients watch a screen or listen to audio cues that change based on their brain activity, helping them learn to control and optimize their brain function. Over time, neurofeedback can help improve mental clarity, emotional regulation, and physical performance by enhancing brain function and promoting healing.
